Assessed Short Breaks for children with special needs or disability in Shropshire

Proposal

Introduction

We fund, with our partners, a range of short break services for disabled children and their families in Shropshire.

This survey is about three specific services in Shropshire:

  • Residential overnights, currently provided by Action for Children (The Willows) and Mencap (Bradbury House).
  • Community support services, including after school clubs, Saturday club, outreach support and holiday schemes. These are currently provided by Action for Children.

The current contracts for delivery end in September 2017. We and our partners need to recommission (fund and design) this type of support and plan to establish new contracts from October 2017.

We're inviting parents to help us shape our future plans and enhance our Short Breaks offer.

It's important that you take this opportunity to share your views with us.

You can get involved by responding to our short online survey. If you'd prefer to complete a paper copy please email Katrina.Lester@shropshire.gov.uk.

We ask you to give us a few details about your family and whether you currently use any of these services.

What we want to know from you is this:

  1. Outcomes: what difference should these services make to your child and your family?
  2. If you're currently using these services, what works well for you? Equally what could improve and how could it be better?
  3. If you think you might need these services in the future, what would work well for you and why.

Please click on the 'How to get involved' tab at the top of the page to access the survey.
