Castle Foregate, Shrewsbury - experimental parking restrictions

Proposal

Following objections to a proposal to introduce a permanent joint use bus stop and night-time taxi bay in this location, Shropshire Council has decided to implement the same restriction on an experimental basis instead. This approach gives the opportunity to monitor any detrimental impact of these changes on local businesses before deciding whether or not to make the
bay permanent.

These changes will also:

  • improve the amenities of the Castle Foregate area by providing a suitable place for Hackney Carriages (Taxis) to legally and safely operate from
  • lead to a swifter conveyance of people from Castle Foregate following night-time leisure activities increase the night-time economy of the area
  • offer more sustain
