The introduction of a variable 20mph/30mph speed limit along the B4386 and on Horseshoe Road and Camlad Cottages, in line with Council’s guidance from 2023, aims to improve the safety of school children, residents and other road users during the school peak times around Chirbury.

The proposals are being implemented following assessment of vehicle speed data and pedestrian movements around the school pedestrian access on the B4386. 

At peak school times, the speed limit is proposed to be 20mph, at all other times, the limit is proposed to be 30mph

(SPEED LIMITS) (PART 2) ORDER 2007 (AMENDMENT) ORDER

Shropshire Council proposes to introduce the following speed limits in Chirbury:

Variable 20mph/30mph when indicated by signing

No person may drive any motor vehicle, other than an exempted vehicle, at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour on the length of the roads named below during such times and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs. At all other times, the length specified shall be subject to a 30mph speed limit.

That length of B4386 from its junction with A490 to a point 42 metres northeast of the northernmost property boundary of Macathro.

Horseshoe Road

In its entirety.

Camlad Cottages

The whole of the adopted length.

That length of B4386 from a point 42 metres northeast of the northernmost property boundary of Macathro to a point 60 metres north of the centre of the access to Crofton and Monksfield.

Any existing speed limits at the above locations will be revoked.
