HGV traffic control - Much Wenlock

Proposal

A4169 SHEINTON STREET, MUCH WENLOCK

PROPOSED TRAFFIC SIGNALS HGV CONTROL MEASURES

We have been made aware over a number of years of the incidents that occur on A4169 Sheinton Street where the carriageway is particularly narrow.

Through the Council's Road Safety Policy, funding has been found to investigate if there is a workable solution to remove the incidences of two large vehicles, travelling in opposite directions, meeting at the narrow section of the road and causing road safety issues, damage to footways and kerbs and congestion.

The proposal that is being put forward is to install traffic signals that will detect when large vehicles are approaching the narrow section, from opposite directions, and will hold one line of traffic to enable the other large vehicle to pass through.

It is proposed that if the scheme is supported, the works would go ahead in Autumn/Winter 2016/17.
