Longden Road, Shrewsbury - changes to the speed limit

Proposal

Title of Scheme

Longden Road area, Shrewsbury - changes to the speed limit

Description

A new housing development is under construction to the north-west of Longden Road, Shrewsbury. As part of the development works a new mini-roundabout access and walking/cycle links are due to be constructed along Longden Road, along with new street lighting and additional visible frontage. As these works will urbanise this section of Longden Road, Shropshire Council as the local highway authority considers that the existing 40mph speed limit located here will no longer be appropriate. Therefore in order to enhance safety for road users along this section of Longden Road the existing 40mph speed limit is proposed to be replaced with an extended 30mph limit.

Locations

Longden Road and Mercian Close, Shrewsbury
