Longden School - speed limits

Proposal

Title of scheme

Longden School - speed limits

Description

The introduction of a variable 20mph along Shrewsbury Road, Longden Road, and School Lane, Longden, in line with council's guidance from 2023, is proposed to improve the safety of school children, residents and other road users during the school peak times.

The proposals are being implemented on Shrewsbury Road and Longden Road following assessment of vehicle speed data and pedestrian movements around the Plealey Lane junction and the school pedestrian access on this road. There is limited space to implement the required signage on School Lane on the approach to the junction and the signage is proposed at the most suitable location.

It's proposed to implement a no stopping on entrance markings restriction outside the school car park entrance to facilitate safe pedestrian movements around this access during school peak periods.

Cosford – 30mph Speed Limit

The introduction of a 30mph speed limit along Worcester Road West aims to improve the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and other road users travelling between Cosford Train station and the RAF Cosford museum. The speed limit changes will facilitate the introduction of a 2m wide footway that is to be installed on the south side of the carriageway, as currently pedestrians walk along the verge. With the reduced speed limit, cyclists will be able to cycle on the carriageway more safely. The proposals are being implemented following assessment of vehicle speed data and pedestrian movements between the train station and the museum, both during term time and in the school holidays. The proposals are being implemented along Neachley Lane and Long Lane in order maintain a continuous 30mph speed limit in the vicinity of the museum and air base.

Shifnal – Various Streets – parking restrictions

The introduction of waiting restrictions along Curriers Lane and its junctions with Barn Road and Greenfield Crescent will provide unrestricted access along the road increasing visibility for all road users including pedestrians, cyclists and motorists, reduce congestion and improve air quality.
