Love Lane, Oswestry - Prohibition of motor vehicles

Proposal

The introduction of a prohibition of motor vehicles traffic regulation order along Love Lane will reduce the danger to vulnerable road users using the road. And, having regard to the existing character of the lane, the restriction will also assist in preserving the amenities of the area through which it runs, and improve the quality of life for local residents.

THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL (LOVE LANE, OSWESTRY)
(PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES) ORDER

Shropshire Council proposes to make an order to prohibit all motor vehicles from using the following length of Love Lane in Oswestry from its junction with the B5069 Morda Road for a distance of 290 metres in a westerly and then south-westerly direction.

  • Emergency vehicles being used in an emergency
  • Vehicles being used for building or repair work to this length of road, adjacent buildings, or utilities
  • Vehicles requiring access to adjoining dwellings
  • Agricultural vehicles requiring access to adjoining land.

Full details of these proposals are in the deposited documents which may be examined during usual office opening hours at The Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury, or at Council Offices, Castle View, Oswestry.

Cosford – 30mph Speed Limit

The introduction of a 30mph speed limit along Worcester Road West aims to improve the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and other road users travelling between Cosford Train station and the RAF Cosford museum. The speed limit changes will facilitate the introduction of a 2m wide footway that is to be installed on the south side of the carriageway, as currently pedestrians walk along the verge. With the reduced speed limit, cyclists will be able to cycle on the carriageway more safely. The proposals are being implemented following assessment of vehicle speed data and pedestrian movements between the train station and the museum, both during term time and in the school holidays. The proposals are being implemented along Neachley Lane and Long Lane in order maintain a continuous 30mph speed limit in the vicinity of the museum and air base.
