Corporate Plan 2026-2030
Have your say on the corporate plan.
The existing Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy came into effect from 1 April 2023. The Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy requires updating to reflect our priorities and outcomes for 2027 to 2031, in particular in relation to protecting people from harm, promoting health and managing the environment. In addition, ongoing improvements in licensing practices and procedures need to be embedded within the policy to further strengthen the application process and simplify this where possible, whilst maintaining the foundations for robust enforcement to continue to increase compliance across the hackney carriage and private hire trade.
On the 11 March 2026 the Strategic Licensing Committee agreed to consult on the updated policy, to commence on 6 April 2026 and run for twelve weeks to midnight on the 28 June 2026.
The current Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy has been amended and can be found at:

We're keen to hear your comments about the proposed amendments to the Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy 2027 – 2031 as a whole.
We would like to know what other improvements could be made to the policy.
In addition, we would like to know if you would support the mandating of the installation of CCTV systems in hackney carriage and private hire vehicles.
We would also like to know if you would support mandating the availability of contactless payments in hackney carriage and private hire vehicles.
Any comments should be made in writing no later than midnight on 28 June 2026 by:

The introduction of a 20mph speed limit on Station Road, Ditton Priors in line with Shropshire Council’s guidance from 2023, is proposed to improve the safety of school children, residents and other road users near Brown Clee C of E Primary School. The extents of the 20mph limit are proposed to cover the main school entrance and approaches on Station Road, in line with data analysis of the movements around the school.
This is a variation to the existing approval to add ‘The Morning Room’ to the licence.
