Proposal

THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND PARKING PLACES) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2009 (VARIOUS ROADS, SHREWSBURY) (AMENDMENT) ORDER

Shropshire Council proposes to introduce the following parking restrictions in Shrewsbury:

No Waiting or Loading At Any Time

Woodhall Close (both sides)

From its junction with New Park Road for to a point 10m north of that junction.

New Park Road (north side)

From its junction with Woodhall Close for to a point 15m southwest of the centre of that junction.

New Park Road (north side)

From its junction with Woodhall Close to a point 18m northeast of the centre of that junction.

Avondale Drive (both sides)

From its junction with New Park Road for to a point 10m south of that junction.

New Park Road (south side)

From its junction with Avondale Drive to a point 16m southwest of the centre of that junction.

New Park Road (south side)

From its junction with Avondale Drive to a point 16m northeast of the centre of that junction.

Darville (both sides)

From its junction with New Park Road to a point 10m north of that junction.

New Park Road (north side)

From its junction with Darville to a point 18m southwest of the centre of that junction.

New Park Road (north side)

From its junction with Darville to a point 18m northeast of the centre of that junction.

No Stopping on School Keep Clear markings

Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm

New Park Road (north side)

From a point 18 metres northeast of the centre of its junction with Woodhall Close to a point in line with the centre of the access to The Martin Wilson School.

New Park Road (north side)

From a point in line with the centre of the access to The Martin Wilson School to a point 43 metres southwest of the centre of its junction with Darville.

The introduction of a 20mph speed limit on New Park Road and Woodhall Close, Shrewsbury in line with Shropshire Council’s guidance from 2023, is proposed to improve the safety of school children, residents and other road users near Shrewsbury Cathedral Catholic Primary School and The Martin Wilson Primary School. The extents of the 20mph limit are proposed to cover the main school entrances on New Park Road, in line with data analysis of the movements around the school.

Ellesmere Primary School area – 20mph speed limit

The introduction of a 20mph speed limit zone is in line with Shropshire Council’s guidance from 2023, and will improve the safety of school children, residents and other road users outside Lakelands Academy, Ellesmere Primary School and the residential estate which is situated between the two school sites. Adjustment of the existing 30mph speed limit to facilitate the introduction of the 20mph zone. This reduction of speed limit will also contribute to an improvement in air quality in this area.
