Title of scheme |
Shrewsbury Town Centre - Various Experimental Restrictions |
|
Description |
This prohibition of motor vehicles, no right turn, and changes to the waiting and loading restrictions order is proposed to trial a potential reshaping of the physical public realm and traffic management arrangements within Shrewsbury town centre, promoting pedestrian safety, active travel alternatives and movement around the town. Buses and taxis will be allowed to travel on weekdays only, with no motor vehicles allowed at the weekend. Changes to the waiting and loading restrictions are also proposed, reducing the number of vehicles in the town and providing additional space for pedestrians and cyclists during the main trading hours. The above aims to provide both improved safety for all road users and quality of life for the local community, and will be applied on an experimental basis for up to 18 months |
