Shropshire Local Plan - Scoping Consultation
A comprehensive scoping consultation for the preparation of the next Shropshire Local Plan, which will guide sustainable growth and development in the county up to 2046.
The Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site (IGWHS) is internationally recognised and the protection of its 'outstanding universal value' is important to both Telford & Wrekin Council and Shropshire Council. The IGWHS spreads over 550 hectares, with roughly three quarters sitting within the administrative boundary of Telford & Wrekin Council, and roughly a quarter within the Shropshire Council administrative boundary.
The draft supplementary planning document aims to provide practical planning guidance to residents and businesses seeking to bring forward sustainable development within the world heritage site. It clarifies why the protection of the outstanding universal value is of such importance, and it will form part of a suite of documents, including the world heritage site management plan that set out how the area will be protected and managed. This consultation aims to gather views on this draft supplementary planning document.
