Chirbury – speed limit

This Speed Limit Order proposes a change to the existing speed limits along the A490 corridor to better align with the local highway conditions, thereby improving safety for all road users.

The existing 30mph speed limit (by virtue of section 84) along the A490 will be extended in addition to a new length of 40mph speed limit, extending from Chirbury to Churchstoke in a south-easterly direction.

Proposal

THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL (DISTRICT OF SOUTH SHROPSHIRE) (SPEED LIMITS) (PART 2) ORDER 2007 (AMENDMENT) ORDER

Shropshire Council proposes to introduce the following speed limits in Chirbury:

30mph speed limit

A490, Chirbury towards Churchstoke

That length of the A490 Churchstoke to Welshpool Road from a point 164 metres north of its junction with the B4386 Chirbury to Montgomery Road to a point 140 metres southeast of its junction with the C5147 Chirbury to Whittery and Priest Weston Road.

40mph speed limit

A490, Chirbury towards Churchstoke

That length of the A490 Churchstoke to Welshpool Road from a point 140 metres southeast of its junction with the C5147 Chirbury to Whittery and Priest Weston Road to a point 260 metres northwest of the centre of the access to Marrington Hall and Lodge.

Any existing speed limits at the above locations will be revoked.
