Admission arrangements for 2027/28
Proposal
The proposed amendment to Shropshire Council’s admission arrangements is as follows:
Changing the definition of a sibling from ‘older sibling’ to ‘a sibling’ to the oversubscription criteria for all community and voluntary controlled schools in the following areas:

Further to this, we are co-ordinating a consultation exercise for own admission authority schools in Shropshire whose trustees, or governing bodies, are responsible for setting their admission arrangements, and who wish to make changes. We wish to notify all parents/carers and interested parties that the consultation will begin on 28 November 2025 and continue for more than 6 weeks until 16 January 2026. The proposed admission arrangements subject to change are laid out in the attached documents below.

Proposing to add staff criteria into their oversubscription criteria for the following schools: Bishops Castle Primary, Condover CE Primary, Lydbury North CE Primary, Onny CE Primary, St Edward’s CE Primary and St George’s CE Primary Schools. |

Empower Multi-Academy Trust |
Proposing one over-arching policy for all its trust schools. Additionally, the following schools are proposing to change the sibling criteria for both in and out of area siblings from ‘an older’ sibling to ‘a sibling’ along with moving the staff criteria priority to a standard position across the trust for Market Drayton Infant, Market Drayton Junior, St George’s CE Junior, St Mary’s CE Primary Shawbury, St Peter’s CE Primary Wem, The Wilfred Owen and Woodfield Infant Schools. In addition to the above changes, Greenacres Primary School is also proposing to reduce its PAN from 30 to 15. |

Proposing to change the sibling criteria for both in and out of area siblings from ‘an older’ sibling to ‘a sibling’ at Grange Primary, Longlands Primary, Lower Heath CE Primary, Oakmeadow CE Primary, and Tilstock Primary Schools and The Marches, Idsall Secondary, The Grove, Shrewsbury Academy and Sir John Talbot’s Secondary schools. The following schools have also joined the trust; Cockshutt CE Primary, Criftins CE Primary and Selattyn CE Primary, so need to consult. |

Proposing to give a higher priority to PLAC/LAC children of the Catholic faith. |

Whitchurch CE Infant and Whitchurch CE Junior Schools |
Proposing to change the sibling criteria for both in and out of area siblings from ‘an older’ sibling to ‘a sibling’ as well as giving priority to siblings attending either school at the time of application. |

Severn Bridges Multi-Academy Trust |
Proposing one over-arching policy for all its trust schools. Additionally, the following schools are proposing to change the sibling criteria for both in and out of area siblings from ‘an older’ sibling to ‘a sibling’ along with moving the staff criteria priority to a standard position across the trust; Greenfields Primary, Mount Pleasant Primary and Radbrook Primary Schools. Harlescott Junior and Sundorne Infant Schools, in addition to the above are proposing to give priority to siblings attending either school at the time of application |

Proposing one over-arching policy for all its trust schools. Additionally, the following schools are proposing to change the sibling criteria for both in and out of area siblings from ‘an older’ sibling to ‘a sibling ‘at Beckbury CE Primary, Bicton CE Primary, Bomere Heath CE Primary, Christ Church CE Primary, Meole Brace CE Primary, St John the Baptist CE Ruyton, St Mary’s CE Bluecoat Primary and Worfield Endowed CE Primary Schools. |

Shropshire Gateway Education Trust has merged to form the Four Stones Gateway Trust. |
The following trust schools are proposing to change the sibling criteria for both in and out of area siblings from ‘an older’ sibling to ‘a sibling’; Clee Hill Community Academy, Stottesdon CE Primary School and The Lacon Childe School. In addition to this, Cleobury Mortimer are also proposing to reduce their PAN from 37 to 30. |

The 3-18 Education Trust |
Proposing to change the sibling criteria for both in and out of area siblings from 'an older' sibling to 'a sibling' at Bowbrook Primary, Coleham, Primary, Hodnet Primary, Much Wenlock primary schools and Bridgnorth Endowed, The Priory, St Martins, Thomas Adams William Brookes School. In addition, William Brookes School is removing its sixth form criteria and John Wilkinson Primary School has joined the trust. |
